Friendship Games and BRICS Games to Uphold Olympic Ideals

09 April

The Friendship Games and the BRICS Games will adhere to the ideals outlined in the Olympic Charter, a stance that contrasts with the current leadership of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a press conference in Beijing following discussions with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

"The BRICS Games, the Children of Asia Games, the Friendship Games, and many other sporting events are on the horizon, which will, unlike some others, be based on the very ideals of Olympism, as enshrined in the Olympic Charter. It is to the shame of the current leadership of the International Olympic Committee that they despise and trample these ideals in favor of the same hegemons, who are attempting to maintain their dominance through any means necessary," Lavrov stated.

Additionally, Lavrov mentioned that the talks covered various areas of humanitarian cooperation between the countries, including the international song contest "Intervision" and the open Eurasian Film Awards.

The BRICS Games are scheduled to take place in Kazan from June 11 to 24, while the Friendship Games will be held from September 15 to 29 in Moscow and Yekaterinburg.
