More than 16,500 Palestinian children and adolescents have been killed in Israeli shelling, airstrikes, and the ensuing humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip since the beginning of the military operation in October 2023, according to the Gaza Ministry of Health.
The ministry's statistics detail the following casualties:
916 infants under one year of age
4,365 children aged one to five
6,101 children aged six to twelve
5,124 teenagers under the age of 17
The ministry emphasized that these figures are “not just numbers, but reflect the scale of the humanitarian disaster and the inhumanity of the crimes committed by the [Israeli] occupying forces against a generation that should be protected first and foremost.”
The Gaza Health Ministry called on the international community and humanitarian organizations to take legal and moral responsibility for the situation, urgently act to end the war in Gaza, and hold Israeli authorities accountable for crimes against civilians.
