28 December 2023

At least 50 people have been killed, dozens more injured, as a result of Israeli strikes on residential areas in the Gaza Strip, according to Ashraf al-Qudra, a spokesperson for the Palestinian enclave's Health Ministry.

In a statement published on the ministry's Telegram channel, al-Qudra stated, "Fifty individuals are confirmed dead, and many others are injured due to the bombardment by Israeli occupation forces on civilian homes in Beit Lahiya (north of the Gaza Strip), Khan Younis (south of the Strip), and al-Maghazi (central part of the enclave) this morning."

Al-Qudra emphasized that the number of casualties could rise as rescue and recovery efforts continue.

According to the latest data from the Health Ministry, the number of people killed in the Gaza Strip since the beginning of a new round of the Middle East conflict on October 7 has surpassed 21,000, with more than 55,000 injured.

On December 1, the Israeli army accused Hamas of violating the ceasefire in effect since November 24 and declared a resumption of hostilities in Gaza. The Palestinian authorities held the US responsible for the renewed Israeli aggression.
