Gohar Ali Khan, the current leader of the Movement for Justice (PTI), is positioned as the favored candidate to assume the chairmanship of the political party in anticipation of upcoming interparty elections, Dawn reports.
The decision comes in the aftermath of the Election Commission of Pakistan's refusal to recognize the outcomes of the interparty elections conducted in December 2023, consequently impeding the PTI from nominating candidates for the parliamentary elections. The re-run of these elections is scheduled for March 3, 2024.
According to the publication, Gohar Ali Khan has garnered significant backing, notably from former party leader and ex-Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan.
