Group of Strategic Vision Explores Enhanced Cooperation Formats with Algerian Partners

11 November

On November 11, 2025, ahead of the Russian-Algerian Business Forum, Marat Gatin met with Sheikh Mabrouk Zaid Al-Khair, Head of Algeria's Supreme Islamic Council and fellow member of the GSV “Russia-Islamic World”. Their discussions covered a wide range of topics spanning economic cooperation, tourism, student exchanges, and youth engagement in joint activities.

In a subsequent interview with Algeria's Al-Shorouk channel, Gatin — who serves as Assistant to the Rais of Tatarstan and Deputy Chairman of the GSV “Russia-Islamic World” — stated the Group's interest in intensifying cooperation with Algeria across various sectors.

The meeting with Sheikh Al-Khair was described as highly productive, having yielded specific formats for strengthening the Group's partnership with Algerian counterparts. The parties outlined a joint work plan for 2026 involving both the Supreme Islamic Council and Algeria more broadly.

A key proposal emerged for establishing a business council under the Strategic Vision Group's auspices, which would create an additional platform for expanding economic ties.

Marat Gatin emphasized that Tatarstan, with its substantial economic and investment potential, is keen to explore opportunities for regional cooperation between Russia and Algeria, while identifying projects of mutual interest to both nations.

Recall that the Russian-Algerian economic forum is taking place in Algeria these days, organized by the Russian export center and the Russian-Algerian Business Council with the assistance of the trade mission of the Russian Federation in Algeria.
