Hamas Leader Holds Talks with Representatives of Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey

04 July

The head of the political bureau of the Palestinian movement Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh, conducted consultations with mediators in the negotiations with Israel, including Egypt and Qatar, as well as representatives from Turkey. These discussions focused on the current ideas being explored to achieve a settlement in the Gaza Strip, according to a message posted on the movement's Telegram channel.

On Wednesday, the offices of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Mossad intelligence service reported that they had received a response from Hamas regarding the hostage deal through intermediaries and were preparing an Israeli response.

On May 31, US President Joe Biden announced the terms of a new draft agreement for peace in Gaza, which consists of three phases. The first phase, lasting six weeks, involves a complete ceasefire, the withdrawal of Israeli troops from populated areas, the release of hostages held by Hamas in exchange for the release of hundreds of Palestinians from Israeli prisons, and the commencement of negotiations with the ceasefire remaining in effect until an agreement is reached. The second phase involves the release of all hostages, including military personnel. The third phase focuses on the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip and the return of the remains of deceased Israelis to their families.
