Palestinians who fled northern Gaza during Israeli military operations will begin returning to their homes on Saturday, January 25, marking the seventh day of the ceasefire agreement in the region. The announcement was made in a statement shared on Hamas' official Telegram channel.
“On the seventh day of the ceasefire, after the completion of the prisoner exchange, displaced residents currently located along the Ar-Rashid axis (stretching along Gaza's southwestern coastline — TASS) will be allowed to return to their homes in the north. They may return on foot and unarmed, without being subjected to searches,” the statement read. Hamas also noted that vehicles may be used for the return journey to northern Gaza, but they will need to pass inspections before departing from the south.
On February 9, the 22nd day of the ceasefire, displaced residents near the Salah ad-Din axis (in southeastern Gaza) will also be permitted to return to the north on foot without undergoing inspections.
Previously, Al Hadath reported, citing a document, that this return process for displaced residents is explicitly outlined in the ceasefire agreement.
