The Palestinian group Hamas has rejected Israel’s demand to disarm and withdraw its forces from the Gaza Strip, according to Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem.
“The demand to eliminate Hamas in Gaza is nothing more than psychological warfare. Withdrawal or disarmament of the resistance is unacceptable. Any agreements regarding Gaza’s future will be made through national consensus,” Qassem told Al Jazeera.
On Tuesday, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar stated that Israel would not allow Hamas to maintain any presence in Gaza after the fighting ends and insisted on the complete disarmament of the territory.
