Haniyeh's Assassination to Dominate OIC Foreign Ministers' Meeting

07 August

Acting Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani has traveled to Jeddah to attend an extraordinary meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers. This meeting was convened following the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, chairman of Hamas's political bureau, in Tehran.

The agenda for this emergency session includes "investigating the ongoing Zionist (referring to the government of Israel — TASS) crimes against the Palestinian people and assessing the scale of aggression by the Israeli authorities, which led to Haniyeh's death and purportedly violated Iran's sovereignty and national security."

During his visit, Bagheri Kani is also scheduled to meet with OIC Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha, according to the Iranian MFA.
