Kyrgyzstan, in order to de-escalate the situation on the border with Tajikistan, considers it expedient to deploy a CSTO military contingent to the area where the recent conflict situation was observed. The head of the Kyrgyzstan's Defense Ministry, Baktybek Bekbolotov, said this at a press conference in Bishkek on Wednesday.
"There will be no peace on the border (with Tajikistan - TASS) until an arbitrator stands between the Kyrgyz and Tajik people. A small CSTO contingent could be deployed on disputed sectors to oversee the withdrawal of equipment and the cease-fire," he said.
Reaching a consensus with Dushanbe on disputed territories would be difficult, he said, because "each side has its own truth."
Only after the arrival of CSTO troops on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border, according to the minister, it will be possible to continue the process of border demarcation and delimitation.
