Head of General Staff of the Armed Forces discussed cooperation with his Pakistani counterpart

Army General Valery Gerasimov, chief of the General staff of the Russian Armed Forces - first deputy minister of defense, discussed bilateral military cooperation with general Nadeem Raza, chairman of the joint chiefs of staff of Pakistan's Armed Forces, during a meeting in Moscow on Friday.


"Pakistan is one of the few countries whose military cooperation has been very active this year, despite the difficult epidemic situation," Gerasimov stressed.


The chief of the Russian General staff expressed gratitude for the traditionally high Pakistani representation in the events organized by the Russian ministry of defense in 2021.


He thanked the Pakistani guest for his personal participation in the active phase of military anti-terrorist command post exercise of SCO member states "Peace Mission 2021" and for sending the national military contingent.


Gerasimov also noted the successful cooperation in the naval field. He recalled that during the fifth round of Russian-Pakistani staff talks the experts discussed in detail the prospects of cooperation between the fleets in St. Petersburg.


A detachment of ships of the Russian Black Sea fleet took part in multinational naval exercises "Aman-2021," bilateral naval exercises "Arabian Monsoon-2021" and maneuvers to counter piracy in the Gulf of Aden. The frigate Zulfikar of the Pakistani Navy participated in the Main naval parade in St. Petersburg.


In addition, there was a detailed exchange of views on the situation in Afghanistan.
