Head of Libya's Presidential Council Mohamed al-Menfi has arrived in St. Petersburg with a delegation to participate in the Russia-Africa summit, as reported by a TASS correspondent.

Russian Ambassador to Tripoli Aidar Aganin stated that several dozen representatives from Libya, including members of the Presidential Council and the government, have accepted the invitation to attend the Russia-Africa forum. Recently, Russia announced the reopening of its embassy in Tripoli and plans to establish a general consulate in Benghazi, Libya's second-largest city.

Moscow anticipates that the restoration of its diplomatic presence in Libya will facilitate the advancement of Russia's economic interests. On June 26, Aganin presented his credentials to Mohamed al-Menfi. During the ceremony, al-Menfi expressed "Libya's commitment to fostering strong bilateral relations with Russia and the country's interest in Russia's contribution, as a permanent member of the UN Security Council, to stabilizing the situation in Libya and supporting the realization of parliamentary and presidential elections, a cherished aspiration of the Libyan people."
