03 February

Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko and the Iranian Ambassador to Russia, Kazem Jalali, met to discuss critical healthcare initiatives ahead of the 19th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission in Tehran. The Russian Ministry of Health shared details of the discussion with the press.

"Our interaction with Iran extends far beyond educational cooperation. It is fundamentally important for us to strengthen friendship and mutual trust between our nations," Murashko stated. He highlighted the prestige of Russian medical institutions, noting that over 75,000 students from 150 countries are currently enrolled in Russia.

Ambassador Jalali emphasized the rising number of young Iranians choosing to study in Russia, viewing them as a vital human bridge between the two countries. "I have always considered students to be a major asset for the development of bilateral relations. Today, approximately 10,000 Iranian students are pursuing their education in Russia," he noted.

Beyond education, the press service reported that Russia and Iran are ramping up collaboration in pharmaceuticals and medical device manufacturing. Several memoranda of understanding have been signed between specialized centers and private firms. A key highlight is the Zelenograd Nanotechnology Center in Russia, which is working to integrate the production of Iranian-developed innovations, particularly pharmaceutical drugs.
