19 May

Interest in learning Russian is on the rise in Indonesia, particularly on the island of Bali, according to Indonesian Minister of Culture Fadli Zon.

“Yes, it’s definitely growing. Some tour guides in Bali have learned Russian quite well. They need to speak Russian to attract more tourists from Russia,” he told TASS.

The minister added that many Indonesian students are now also keen to study Russian. “In my opinion, it’s a really good choice,” Zon said.
