During his visit to Moscow, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto met with Indonesian students currently studying in Russia. He warmly greeted the group—dozens of young men and women waving a long banner in the colors of Indonesia’s flag, according to a TASS correspondent on site.
Rossotrudnichestvo said the students are enrolled at Russian universities through a government scholarship program. They include recipients from the 2023, 2024, and 2025 academic years. For 2025, Moscow increased Indonesia’s quota by 48 scholarships, the agency noted, crediting the effort to its representative office in Jakarta.
The Russian House in Jakarta has been active in education promotion this year, taking part in a dozen university fairs—many supported by Indonesia’s parliament and the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, and the Ministry of Finance.
Regular webinars and online consultations also help prospective students apply for study grants. According to Rossotrudnichestvo, more than 2,500 Indonesians have applied to study in Russia, with the most sought-after programs in medicine, management, international relations, oil and gas engineering, and economics.
