Iran Announces Visa Waiver for Tourists from 28 Countries Starting February 4

31 January

Iran has unilaterally abolished its visa regime with 28 countries, including Belarus, Qatar, Kyrgyzstan, Japan, Mexico, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Uzbekistan, effective from February 4, 2024, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Alireza Bigdeli told IRNA.

Bigdeli stated, "The foreign ministry has notified the relevant authorities about the decree approved by the cabinet to cancel visas for these 28 countries." Consequently, "citizens of these 28 countries who travel to Iran for tourism purposes will not require a visa starting from February 4, 2024," the deputy minister elaborated. He also addressed the situation with India, emphasizing that its citizens will not need a visa unless they enter the country by air.

Since August 1, 2023, a visa-free group tourist exchange has been in operation between Russia and Iran. On September 21, the first Iranian delegation arrived in Russia under this new visa-free regime, as reported by Caucas.RF.
