The suspension of negotiations on the nuclear deal in Vienna is caused by the White House trying to use the situation to solve domestic political problems, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh said at a press conference on Monday.
"What happened in Vienna is the suspension [of negotiations] due to the fault of the United States," he said. - "It has become clear that [US President Joe] Biden and the White House have not yet made a decision on this issue."
The diplomat added that "the US authorities have made the situation around the nuclear deal part of domestic policy".
According to him, "if the US is ready to sign the agreement, it must make a political decision".
In Vienna, after eight rounds of talks to restore the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action on the Iranian nuclear program to its original form and bring the US back into the multilateral agreement, a break was taken on March 11 due to external factors. Prior to that, the Vienna talks had reached the finish line and were expected to be completed by the end of February. The text of the agreement was agreed upon and is about 20 pages long, outlining further steps to return to the nuclear agreement in its original form.
