Iran Calls for Emergency Meeting of Islamic States on Gaza Situation

Iran's Acting Foreign Minister, Ali Bagheri Kani, alongside his Lebanese counterpart, Abdallah Bou Habib, emphasized the urgent need for joint efforts to halt Israel's ongoing war crimes in the Gaza Strip. They expressed their views during a press conference in Beirut, highlighting the detrimental impact of Israel's actions on the prospects for peace in the region and the suffering of Palestinians.

 

"Immediate collective action is essential to halt the aggression and protect the Palestinian people," - Bagheri Kani stressed. - "Given the current situation, Iran and Lebanon endorse the proposal for an emergency meeting of member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to address the Gaza Strip situation."

 

The visit to Beirut marked the first foreign trip by Iran's acting foreign minister following the tragic helicopter crash on May 19, which resulted in the deaths of President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hosein Amir Abdollahian.

 

During his remarks in Beirut, Bagheri reiterated Iran's commitment to ensuring stability and security in Lebanon while expressing Iran's keen interest in the advancement and prosperity of the Lebanese people.

 

In response, Lebanon's acting foreign minister underscored the alignment between Beirut and Tehran in their approaches to resolving Middle East issues, emphasizing their shared vision for regional stability and peace.
