Iran Condemns Terrorist Attacks During Pakistan's Parliamentary Elections

The Iranian Foreign Ministry has denounced the terrorist activities that occurred during the parliamentary elections in Pakistan. As reported by the Iranian Foreign Ministry's press service, spokesman Nasser Kanani stated that "the main goal of terrorists is to challenge the democratic process in Pakistan and disrupt the peaceful conduct of elections in the country." He further expressed solidarity with the government and people of Pakistan, aligning himself with their struggle for democracy and combating terrorism.

 

Previously, the Xinhua news agency had reported incidents of violence during the elections, including an attack on police officers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province and a shelling incident at a polling station in the Tank district, resulting in casualties.

 

 

The parliamentary elections in Pakistan commenced at 08:00 local time (06:00 Moscow time) and are set to conclude at 17:00 local time (15:00 Moscow time). The Pakistan Muslim League and the Pakistan People's Party are leading contenders for the upcoming elections.
