Iran Expects Russian Travel Warnings to Be Lifted Soon

25 December 2025

Tehran is optimistic that barriers preventing Russians from visiting Iran will be removed in the near future. These restrictions stemmed from the recent Iran-Israel conflict and affected several nations, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated.

“A number of countries still haven't dropped their travel advisories after the 12-day war with Israel back in June—and Russia, regrettably, is among them,” Araghchi explained during a meeting with business leaders in Isfahan, as shown on Iranian television. “I brought this up directly with Sergey Lavrov during my Moscow visit last week, and I'm hopeful we'll see a resolution soon.”

Russia's embassy in Tehran issued a travel advisory on June 13 at the outset of the conflict, urging citizens to avoid visiting the country until further notice. Even after hostilities ceased, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova noted on July 9 that Moscow continued advising Russians to think thoroughly about trips amid lingering regional instability.
