Iran has officially been granted observer status in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). This decision was announced during the union's summit, as reported by TASS.
In addition to Iran, Cuba and Uzbekistan also hold observer status within the EAEU. The core members of the union, referred to as the Eurasian Five, are Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan.
“Iran is now an observer state within our union,” confirmed Bakhytzhan Sagintayev, Chairman of the Eurasian Economic Commission, during a press briefing.
