Tehran welcomes talks between Russia and Ukraine and hopes the dialogue will help resolve the crisis in the region, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh said at a press conference on Monday.

A TASS source said Sunday that talks between the Russian and Ukrainian delegations would begin on Monday. Earlier, Vladimir Medinsky, who heads the Russian delegation, said that an agreement had been reached with the Ukrainian side on Sunday to hold talks in the Gomel region of Belarus.
