Iranian Ambassador to Russia considers Raisi's visit to Moscow as a signal to the United States

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi's visit to Russia amid worsening Russian-American relations was an important signal of Moscow and Tehran's unity, Iranian Ambassador to Moscow Kazem Jalali said so on Friday at an online conference marking the 43rd anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution.


The diplomat noted that the deployment of US weapons near Russia's borders has aggravated Russia's tensions with the United States and NATO. "The visit of our esteemed president [Ebrahim Raisi] just happened during this very period. It means that in the fight against unilateral US actions <...> we and Russia are just next to each other. This is a very important message," he stressed.


Jalali pointed out that the Iranian president's talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin were very effective. "The talks were held on various bilateral issues: increasing the level of trade and economic cooperation, energy, oil and gas issues, cooperation in nuclear peaceful energy, cooperation on the  International North-South Transport Corridor, transit," he pointed out. - "I think this visit is a turning point in our bilateral relations, and God willing, these relations will gain further momentum".


The Iranian president visited Moscow on January 19-20 at Putin's invitation.
