Tehran confirmed during its latest negotiations with Washington that it does not seek to possess nuclear weapons. Furthermore, Iran proposed various options for resolving disagreements over nuclear issues, according to Kazem Jalali, the Islamic Republic's Ambassador to Russia, in an interview with the RBC television channel.
"We believe the negotiation process was going quite well. We wanted to maintain a peaceful nuclear program of an industrial nature, and even the Americans did not express objections to this. As for nuclear weapons, we were strictly opposed and stated that we do not want to possess them. We even suggested different options for resolving this issue," the diplomat said.
The ambassador believes all issues were resolvable. "We believe there were no closed questions during the negotiation processes — nothing like that. They [the US] even agreed to uranium enrichment within Iran," he added.
Jalali also noted that the US "initially decided to deceive everyone; it could be nothing else." "We understand that the Americans do not believe in negotiations, and that negotiations are merely a path of deception to achieve other goals," the diplomat pointed out.
