Iran's President-Elect Criticizes Netanyahu's Speech to US Congress

26 July

Iranian President-elect Massoud Pezeshkian has sharply criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's speech to the US Congress.

"The killing of innocent people and defenseless children cannot be ignored, and the perpetrator cannot be whitewashed with applause. Innocent blood is never spared for the oppressor," Pezeshkian wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

On July 24, Netanyahu addressed a joint session of the US Senate and House of Representatives, declaring that he would end the military operation in the Gaza Strip when the Palestinian Hamas movement lays down its arms and releases hostages. The prime minister also called for the creation of a security alliance in the Middle East, similar to NATO, "to counter the growing Iranian threat."
