Iraq Calls for Urgent Arab Foreign Ministers' Meeting Amid Regional Tensions

18 June

Iraqi Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Fuad Hussein held a phone conversation with his Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdelatty, during which they discussed the escalating tensions in the Middle East, including the intensifying confrontation between Iran and Israel.

In light of recent developments, Hussein called for an emergency meeting of Arab foreign ministers to be held during the upcoming session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), which is scheduled to take place in Istanbul in the coming days, according to Iraq’s INA news agency.

The two ministers exchanged views on “the latest developments in the region, particularly the recent incidents stemming from the war targeting the Islamic Republic of Iran and the implications for regional security and stability.”
