Israel will not agree to the establishment of a Palestinian state, as it believes such a move would threaten its own existence. This stance was reaffirmed by Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz during a meeting with a US delegation that included several senators and Deputy Special Representative for the Middle East Morgan Ortagus.
“Israel will never accept the creation of a Palestinian state that endangers its survival. Our priorities are clear: preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons, securing the release of all hostages, eliminating Hamas in Gaza, and then pursuing a normalization agreement with Saudi Arabia,” Katz stated, according to his press office. He also emphasized that US President Donald Trump’s plan for Gaza is the only viable path to ensuring Israel’s security in the aftermath of the October 7, 2023, attacks.
Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has suggested that Palestinians in Gaza should have the option to voluntarily leave the enclave if they choose to do so. According to Israel’s Galei Tzahal radio, Netanyahu discussed Trump’s vision for Gaza with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio during talks in Jerusalem. A source familiar with the conversation said the two leaders went into detail about ways to facilitate voluntary migration from Gaza as part of Trump’s broader strategy for the region.
