Israeli fighter jets targeted Hadath, a southern suburb of Beirut. According to a TASS correspondent, two missile strikes were launched at ground targets. There are no immediate reports of casualties or injuries.
A local civil defense source told TASS that firefighters and rescue teams have been deployed to the area. "Efforts are underway to clear the rubble from buildings that collapsed due to the bombing," the source said. "Residents had been evacuated from the targeted areas beforehand."
This marks the first Israeli airstrike on Beirut since a ceasefire agreement was reached on November 27, 2024. Prior to this, Israeli drones had carried out warning strikes on three buildings in Hadath, causing panic among residents. As a precaution, authorities suspended school activities and evacuated students from the affected zone.
Israeli military spokesperson Avichay Adraee stated that the air raid was a response to the launch of two rockets toward northern Israeli towns. According to the Israeli Defense Forces, the strike targeted a Hezbollah drone storage facility on the southern outskirts of Beirut.
