Jordan, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia Reject US Request for Peacekeepers in Gaza

07 August

The governments of Jordan, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia have declined a US request to contribute peacekeepers to a post-war mission in the Gaza Strip, according to The Times of Israel.

Sources confirmed to the newspaper that the Arab nations rejected the offer, arguing that such a mission could appear as if it were "protecting Israel from the Palestinians."

In contrast, Egypt and the UAE have expressed their willingness to participate in the mission but have stipulated several conditions. They insist that the mission be conducted within the framework of the "two-state solution" concept, which Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has opposed.
