Jordan's Foreign Minister: Israel Has Violated Ceasefire Agreement Over 900 Times in Gaza

24 March

In the last 40 days, Israel has violated the ceasefire agreement with the Hamas movement in the Palestinian Gaza Strip more than 900 times, according to Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi. He made the statement during a session of the Jordanian House of Deputies.

“The agreement [between Israel and Hamas] on the exchange of prisoners included the establishment of a joint Egyptian-Qatari operations center to monitor the terms of the ceasefire. This center has recorded more than 900 violations of the truce by Israel over the past 40 days,” Safadi said, as reported by the Petra news agency. He also added that Jordan continues to make efforts to end Israel's aggression in Gaza and its illegal actions against the West Bank.

On March 18, the Israeli military resumed operations in the Gaza Strip, launching heavy strikes on the enclave and thereby breaking the ceasefire established in January. The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu explained that the resumption of hostilities came after Hamas rejected proposals put forward during negotiations mediated by US special envoy Steve Witkoff, claiming that the operation's goal was to free all hostages. Hamas, in turn, blamed Israel and the United States for the renewal of hostilities.
