Russian Presidential Special Representative for Afghanistan Zamir Kabulov held talks with Mohammad Bahrami-Taghanaki, Director-General for South Asian Affairs at Iran’s Foreign Ministry, to discuss the ongoing efforts toward a political settlement in Afghanistan. According to a statement posted on the Russian Foreign Ministry’s website.
“During the meeting, the two sides held in-depth discussions on issues related to the Afghan peace process,” the statement read. “They emphasized the key role played by regional dialogue platforms—primarily the Moscow Consultations Format and the regional 'quartet' comprising Russia, China, Iran, and Pakistan—and highlighted the counterproductive nature of attempts by outside forces to impose solutions on Afghanistan’s internal political developments.”
