Cooperation between Russian and Chinese businesses in Afghanistan will serve as a positive factor in achieving stability both within the country and across the region. This was stated by Zamir Kabulov, Advisor to the Russian Foreign Minister and Special Presidential Envoy for Afghanistan.
He noted that the interests of Chinese companies do not conflict with those of Russia, and therefore, there is no talk of direct competition.
“On the contrary, this could be a positive factor that contributes to greater stability,” Kabulov said on the “Solovyov Live” TV channel. “Stability is a broad concept, encompassing the socio-economic situation of the population. And if, as a result of such investment activities by interested and preferably regional countries, the living standards of the Afghan people as a whole improve, this will enhance stability in the region.”
“The Great Game”
Kabulov also pointed out that, unlike China and Russia, the United Kingdom viewed Afghanistan not as a platform for mutually beneficial cooperation, but as a stage for the so-called "Great Game"—a strategy in which, in the end, it was defeated.
“As far as the Great Game is concerned, the British have definitively lost it in the Afghan context. But that doesn’t mean we can let our guard down,” he emphasized. “On the contrary, we must work hard and put an end to the transformation and use of Afghanistan as an object of any future Great Games.”
