Western countries are meddling in the Iranian presidential election through their agents, though their efforts have not yet met with success, Zamir Kabulov, the Special Representative of the Russian President for Afghanistan, Director of the Second Asian Department of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, told TASS.
"The West has never ceased interfering in Iran's internal affairs. I have virtually no doubt that it is not merely attempting but actively engaging in this interference through its proxies and agents. However, so far, such efforts have not been successful," Kabulov remarked when asked if the West might try to influence the election process in Iran.
Iran is set to hold early presidential elections on June 28 following the death of President Ebrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash on May 19.
