During negotiations in Riyadh, the American delegation appeared to be listening closely to the Russian side, according to Russian senator Grigory Karasin. Speaking to Parlamentskaya Gazeta, Karasin noted that by the end of the long discussion, both sides had grown accustomed to each other and began speaking more directly.
“They were paying very close attention to what we had to say—or at least I’d like to think so. By the time we wrapped up, the conversation had become more straightforward, with fewer diplomatic formalities,” he said.
Karasin added that expert-level discussions will continue under President Vladimir Putin’s directives. While further meetings could take place if new issues arise, no such plans are currently on the table.
The senator also highlighted the intensity of the talks, which lasted from early morning until nearly 11 PM, with only short breaks in between.
“It was a rigorous discussion, but the atmosphere remained professional and constructive for both delegations. The key topics were explored in detail, and both sides engaged in open, substantive dialogue,” he concluded.
