Kazakhstan Advocates for Preserving Genuine Memory of World War II

15 March

The President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, expressed support for historical truth and the preservation of the genuine memory of the Second World War during a meeting of the National Kurultai, a consultative and advisory body under the head of state.

"In many countries, the narration of historical events is increasingly being used as a means of information and political manipulation. As the Second World War recedes into the past, a number of historical and military myths surrounding it is emerging. Kazakhstan has consistently and will continue to uphold the importance of historical truth and the preservation of the genuine memory of this most devastating conflict in human history," Tokayev declared, as reported by his press service.

The president noted that in 2025, the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory will be widely celebrated, and preparations for the celebration of this significant date should begin now.

"The state is committed to preserving the memory of our compatriots who achieved extraordinary feats of valor and labor during the war. The names of heroes such as Malik Gabdullin, Sabyr Rakhimov, Aliya Moldagulova, Manshuk Mametova, among others, are eternally honored through the naming of settlements, objects, and streets across the country," Tokayev said, emphasizing the importance of continuing this tradition.
