The authorities of Kazakhstan and Russia have agreed to launch an international train between Atyrau and Astrakhan from April 20, the press service of Kazakhstan Railways reported on Monday.
"Based on a bilateral agreement between the railway administrations of Kazakhstan and Russia, the international passenger train No. 625/626 route Atyrau - Astrakhan will be scheduled starting April 20, 2022. The periodicity of service every other day: from Atyrau the train leaves on even dates on April 20 of this year, and from Astrakhan to Atyrau - from April 21 on odd-numbered", the statement reads.
Rail service between the countries has been suspended since March 2020 due to the pandemic.
Before issuing travel documents, the company asks passengers to observe the requirements of the procedure for crossing the state border of Kazakhstan for the period of quarantine restrictions. "For the entry of Kazakh citizens and foreign nationals by railway transport in the country a having negative PCR certificate for COVID-19 is still required . It should not take more than 72 hours from the date of its issuance. Or a passport for a complete course of vaccination or revaccination against coronavirus infection (a period of no more than six months after the last dose) is required. Passengers will not be allowed to board the car if they do not have the results of PCR test or a passport for vaccination against COVID-19," the company explained. They also recommended their passengers to observe the mask regime in places of mass gathering.
