Kazakhstan plans to begin production of Kalashnikov assault rifles in 2022

The Kazakhstan plant Tynys located in the Akmola region intends to start production of Kalashnikov rifles this year. The press service of Kazakhstan's Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development announced this on Wednesday.


"Within a year in Kokshetau (administrative center of the region - TASS) it is planned to start production of Kalashnikov automatic rifles of the 2015 model," the message reads. According to the ministry, assembly of AK-12 and AK-15 automatic rifles will be carried out at the plant Tynys.


Moreover, this year Kazakhstani defense enterprises are planning to implement such prospective projects as assembly of Mi-171Sh helicopters at JSC Aircraft Repair Plant #405, creation of a service center for Airbus aircraft at Kazakhstan Aircraft Industry LLP and production of technical facilities for state border protection at JSC Petropavlovsk Heavy Machine Building Plant.


In addition, it is planned to produce means of radiation and chemical protection at the Tynys plant, Alma DK LLP and Militarm LLP, to modernize armored vehicles at the site of Semey Engineering JSC, to produce machine gun ammunition at Steel Manufacturing LLP and armored wheeled vehicles Barys 8x8 at the facilities of Kazakhstan Paramount Engineering LLP.
