The authorities of Kazakhstan have decided to remove the Taliban movement (banned in Russia) from the list of banned organizations within the country. Aibek Smadiarov, the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, revealed this decision in an interview with the Kazinform agency.
"Kazakhstan routinely revises the national list of terrorist organizations banned in the Republic of Kazakhstan to keep it up to date. As part of this process, it has been decided to exclude the Taliban movement in accordance with UN practices. According to UN Security Council resolutions, which are binding, the Taliban is not included in the lists of organizations recognized by the UN Security Council as terrorist," explained Smadiarov.
In response to inquiries about diplomatic contacts between Kazakhstan and the Taliban, Smadiarov stated, "As for political contacts, I would like to emphasize that Kazakhstan will continue to strictly adhere to the decisions and resolutions adopted by the Security Council and the UN General Assembly."
A joint business forum with Afghanistan took place from August 3 to 5 in Astana, where over 150 entrepreneurs from various sectors, including banks, participated from the Afghan side. The forum resulted in the signing of contracts worth $190.8 million between business representatives of Kazakhstan and Afghanistan.
