Kazakhstan's Special Services Shut Down Channel of Illegal Migration of Afghan Citizens to Russia

The National security committee (KNB) of Kazakhstan has successfully shut down a network facilitating the illegal migration of Afghan citizens to Russia and onward to European countries, the press service of the KNB of Kazakhstan.

 

"The Almaty Border control department of the KNB Border service, in collaboration with the prosecutor's office, has shut down a channel involved in the illegal migration of Afghan citizens to Russia and onward to European countries via Kazakhstan. On March 16, four Afghan nationals were apprehended red-handed while attempting to bribe an official with $5,000," the statement reads.

 

According to the investigation, the money was intended to facilitate the transportation of foreigners using fraudulent passports from Spain and Portugal through the Almaty international airport.

 

The case is currently under pre-trial investigation for offenses under the criminal code related to "Organizing illegal migration" and "Bribery". With the court's authorization, the detainees have been remanded in custody as a preventive measure.
