Khamenei Advisor: Israel to Be Targeted if US Strikes Iran

03 February

Israel’s territory will be considered a legitimate target for Iran in the event of US aggression, as Tehran views the two nations as "one and the same." This warning was issued by Ali Shamkhani, advisor to the Islamic Republic's Supreme Leader, during an interview with the Al Mayadeen television channel.

"Israel and America are not two separate elements; they are one entity," Shamkhani stated when questioned about Tehran’s potential retaliation against Israel if the US launches an attack on Iranian soil. "If America strikes, then Israel will naturally be implicated, and our response must be proportionate," he emphasized, adding that the scale of the counterstrike would depend entirely on the specific actions taken by the opposing side.

This follows a statement on January 26 by US President Donald Trump, who claimed that a "massive armada" is currently heading toward Iran. Trump expressed hope that Tehran would return to the negotiating table to secure a "fair and equitable" deal involving the total abandonment of its nuclear weapons program. The American leader also referenced the "Midnight Hammer" operation of June 2025, during which the US struck nuclear facilities across the Islamic Republic, warning that any future attack would be "even worse."
