Industrial sovereignty is one of Morocco's top priorities amid the vulnerability of global value chains and heavy dependence on imports. King Mohammed VI said in a message to participants in the first "National Industry Day," which opened Wednesday in Casablanca.
"Morocco's industrial sovereignty is at the center of priorities amid the vulnerability of global value chains and heavy dependence on imports," the monarch stressed, adding that "Moroccan industry is called to make local production more competitive, to reduce this dependence, to further strengthen the sustainability and competitiveness of the country, to strengthen Morocco's position in promising sectors."
"To meet this challenge, our country needs an industry that integrates new industries and new knowledge and offers more job opportunities. Such an industry should have as its main task the ability to create jobs for young people," Mohammed VI added.
According to the king, industry aspirations must be underpinned by "human capital with expanded opportunities and skills." In this regard, he pointed to "the importance for industry to adapt human capital to the specific needs of production projects and strengthen management skills."
Mohammed VI noted the need to "provide young people with quality training that meets new needs and new changes and is open to new technologies in a closer public-private partnership."
The king also said that "Morocco can become a model in the use of low-carbon and sustainable production methods, attracting foreign investors looking for opportunities in green economy sectors."
