Komarov: traditional values of Russian society are subject to state protection

19 May 2023

Traditional values of the Russian society are protected by the state. The statement was made by Plenipotentiary Representative of the Russian President in the Volga Federal District Igor Komarov, speaking at the meeting of the Group of Strategic Vision "Russia - Islamic World" themed "Russia - Islamic World: traditional spiritual and moral values as a basis for interreligious cooperation." The event took place in the Kazan Town Hall as part of the XIV International Economic Forum "Russia - Islamic World: KazanForum".

Komarov noted the relevance of the chosen topic, because in today's difficult conditions traditional spiritual and moral values come to the fore. Komarov said there are about 3.5 thousand Muslim religious organizations in different Russian regions and regional authorities render them a great support. Tatarstan shows a particularly high level in this direction and is an example for other regions of the country.

Traditional values of the Russian society are protected by the state. In 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed an updated concept of state policy in the sphere of strengthening traditional spiritual and moral values. The document recognizes such basic values as life, dignity, human rights, strong family, labor, mercy, justice, historical memory and continuity of generations as the highest values. These values are common to traditional religious confessions and have the approval of the vast majority of the world population.

The presidential envoy expressed confidence that on the basis of common values Russia and the countries of the Islamic world will be able to continue strengthening cooperation in various fields. The Group of Strategic Vision "Russia - Islamic World"  has all the possibilities for this, he concluded.
