Kosachev became coordinator of CIS IPA observers at the referendum in Belarus

Federation Council Vice-Speaker Konstantin Kosachev has been appointed coordinator of observers from the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly (IPA) at the constitutional referendum in Belarus, the IPA CIS press service told TASS on Thursday.


"At the proposal of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Konstantin Kosachev was appointed as coordinator of the group of observers from the Interparliamentary Assembly of CIS member states participating in monitoring the republican referendum on making amendments and additions to the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus," a spokesman said.


According to the press service, a monitoring group consisting of representatives of national parliaments of the IPA CIS member states, employees of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat and experts of the International Institute of Monitoring of Democracy Development of the IPA CIS is being formed.


"The IPA CIS monitoring group will arrive in the Republic of Belarus next week," the administration of the assembly informed.


According to the decree of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, the constitutional referendum will be held on February 27. One will be able to vote early from February 22 to 26.
