Krasnov: Russia and Iran Share Common Approach in Countering Threats

15 September 2023

Russian Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov recently held a meeting with his Iranian counterpart, Mohammad Movahedi Azad, who assumed the position recently.

"Russia is ready to enhance collaboration across all areas of mutual interest. I want to underscore our particular interest in advancing cooperation within the multilateral framework," Krasnov stated during his meeting with the Iranian counterpart.

The Russian Prosecutor General explained that it is not only about the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, but also BRICS, as well as the five-sided format of the prosecutor's offices of the Caspian region states. "I believe that we should act together on the above international platforms, supporting each other in the interests of Russia and Iran," Krasnov said.

He noted that the prosecutors' offices of the two countries share a common approach to addressing contemporary challenges and threats.

Movahedi Azadi was appointed as Iran's Prosecutor General in August. Krasnov also extended his congratulations to his colleague on his appointment to this role.
