Kremlin: Putin and Aliyev May Address the Situation with the Russian House in Baku

07 February

The issue surrounding the Russian House in Baku might be discussed during future high-level talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov indicated this possibility during a press briefing.

"We will certainly raise this matter with our counterparts at different levels. If high-level meetings take place, it’s possible this issue will also come up during discussions between the two presidents," Peskov said when asked whether the topic would feature in upcoming talks.

On February 3, Azerbaijan formally notified Russia of its decision to cease the Russian House’s operations, citing the lack of legal registration as the reason.

Yevgeny Primakov, the head of Rossotrudnichestvo, confirmed receipt of the Azerbaijani note and stated that the Russian House has been asked to vacate its premises within six weeks, as the landlord plans to sell the property.

The Russian House has declined to comment on the matter, but for now, it continues to operate as usual.
