06 February

The Kremlin has expressed its support for the ongoing negotiations between Tehran and Washington on the Iranian nuclear file, stating its hope that the dialogue will yield tangible results and lead to a regional de-escalation. Dmitry Peskov, the Press Secretary for the President of the Russian Federation, told reporters during a briefing.

"We welcome the negotiations that have now commenced in Oman," Peskov said. "And we hope these talks prove productive and pave the way for a de-escalation of tensions across the region."

"Until that [de-escalation] happen, we would, of course, like to see restraint from all interested states," Peskov added.

The direct negotiations between the US and Iran are taking place in Oman on February 6. The Iranian delegation is led by Foreign Minister Araghchi and a US team is headed by Special Envoy Steve Witkoff.
