The Office of the Presidential Commissioner for Children's Rights, Anna Kuznetsova, has prepared the documents necessary for the return of 123 Russian children to their homeland from Syria.
"Despite the fact that the pace of children's return is not as fast as we are ready for, which we see that we can implement, we will be doing it until the last child is taken out. Now 123 sets of documents are already ready for these children," Kuznetsova told reporters on Monday.
At the same time, she noted that appeals about the readiness to take the children home have been repeatedly sent to the administrations of refugee camps in Syria. "We are ready to take out all the hundred-plus children for whom we have documents at this time, but so far there has been no response [from the refugee camps]," Kuznetsova added.
In the summer of 2017, Russia began systematic work on the return home of underage Russian citizens staying in Iraq and Syria. The work is carried out on the instructions of the President of the Russian Federation. During this time, more than 340 children have been returned to their homeland from Iraq and Syria.
