Kyrgyz armed forces have arrived in Kazakhstan to take part in the "Birlistik-2024" military exercises, according to an announcement by the Kyrgyz Ministry of Defense.

The ministry stated, "A military contingent from the Kyrgyz Republic has reached the Mangistau region of the Republic of Kazakhstan to participate in the 'Birlistik-2024' international military exercises, which are scheduled to continue until July 17, 2024."

The exercises will see participation from military units from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.

During the exercises, which will take place at the Oymasha firing range and the nearby maritime area off Cape Tokmak, the forces will conduct a joint operation aimed at the "localization of an armed conflict." The ministry detailed that the exercises will involve "liberating an island overtaken by hypothetical terrorists and conducting operations to ensure maritime safety and protect infrastructure."

The Kyrgyz contingent includes members from the General Staff Task Force and about 50 personnel from the elite "Scorpion" unit.

The ministry emphasized, "Approximately 4,000 servicemen, along with up to 700 pieces of weaponry, military, and special equipment, including aircraft and ships, will participate in the exercise."
