Kyrgyz Prime Minister Akylbek Zhaparov Relieved of Duties

Kyrgyzstan’s President Sadyr Zhaparov has signed a decree relieving Akylbek Zhaparov of his duties as Prime Minister and Head of the Presidential Administration. This was confirmed by the presidential press service in a statement to TASS.

 

“President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov has signed a decree relieving Akylbek Zhaparov of his position as Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Head of the Presidential Administration of the Kyrgyz Republic,” the press service representative announced.

 

Adylbek Kasymaliev, the First Deputy Prime Minister, has been appointed Acting Prime Minister. According to the country’s legislation, the Cabinet of Ministers will not be dissolved and will continue its functions.

 

Akylbek Zhaparov assumed office in October 2021. During his tenure, Kyrgyzstan's GDP nearly doubled over three years. Under his leadership, several major economic projects were implemented, including the establishment of a plant for assembling passenger and freight vehicles with support from Uzbekistan.
