Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Hussein Abdallah al-Safadi discussed the situation in Syria and bilateral cooperation during their meeting on Monday, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Monday.
"The foreign ministers held a detailed exchange of views on topical issues of the regional and international agenda. Special attention was paid to the unfolding situation in and around Syria. Sergey Lavrov and al-Safadi reaffirmed their principled support for Syria's sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, and spoke in favor of an early resolution of the crisis based on the provisions of UN Security Council Resolution 2254," the diplomatic mission said.
The ministers also discussed topical issues of further strengthening of bilateral cooperation in various fields relying on the mechanism of the Russian-Jordanian intergovernmental commission for the development of trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation. It is noted that the sixth meeting of the commission is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2021.
The head of the Jordanian Foreign Ministry accompanied King Abdullah II of Jordan, who arrived in Moscow on a working visit.
